ifuse Centos 8 stream

Post by jonfon96 » 2022/01/10 04:39:04

I would like to install ifuse for Centos 8 stream and it seems I am not able to locate the support files.

Error:
Problem: conflicting requests
- nothing provides libfuse-devel >= 2.7.0 needed by ifuse-1.1.4-alt1.src
- nothing provides libplist-devel >= 2.2.0 needed by ifuse-1.1.4-alt1.src
- nothing provides libimobiledevice-devel >= 1.3.0 needed by ifuse-1.1.4-alt1.

if someone can tell me if I can use this version ifuse

Thank you

jonfon

There is an ifuse package in Fedora 34 but you cannot use that directly on CentOS. Raise a bugzilla on bugzilla.redhat.com in the Fedora EPEL section and ask the Fedora ifuse maintainer if they would make it available for EPEL 8. Check first to see if anyone else has already requested it and if so, then read it to see what state it is in.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

You are trying to build from a source RPM for ALT Linux. No wonder it fails. ALT and CentOS have very little in common. E.g. the package libfuse-devel in ALT corresponds to fuse-devel in CentOS, while libplist-devel and libmobiledevice-devel are at older versions in CentOS than in ALT. Besides, ALT uses quite a different set of RPM macros (%_man1dir instead of %_mandir/man1, etc.). Even rebuilding Fedora packages is often non-trivial on CentOS. But ALT? Basically, you'll have to rewrite the spec file from scratch.

Looks more to me like the OP is trying to install binary rpms designed for Alt Linux not rebuild an SRPM. Which is a) worse and b) even less likely to work
