Hi Community
I currently run Centos 8 Stream (kernel version 4.18.0-338.el8.x86_64 x86_64) across a large number of laptops. I am looking for valued advice on how to allow my end-users to use bluetooth keyboards/mouse/headphones but disable the ability to transfer files via bluetooth from their laptops whether that be directly or via add-on usb bluetooth devices. Can you advise what the best way to do this is please? Also do you foresee any security issues allowing bluetooth in the first place ? I look forward to your valued advice.
Thanks
Big Dog
Allow bluetooth keyboards/mouse/headphones but disable bluetooth transfer
Re: Allow bluetooth keyboards/mouse/headphones but disable bluetooth transfer
I imagine that would come down to enabling/disabling bluetooth profiles.
Bluetooth profiles dictate capabilities such as sound at "set" qualities, file transfer and so on.
There's a list of bluez supported profiles at http://www.bluez.org/profiles/
I seem to recall most transfers involved starting the OBEX server (but that was a long time ago & I'm very out of date).
If I where you, I'd (try to make my life easier) and just ensure obexd can't run.
But like I say, I'm very out of date.
Good luck!
