Startx fails very often

Post by trisun11 » 2021/09/19 11:00:09

Hi guys, I using CentOS about since 2018. It's unassailable amazing system. :)
But one thing haunts me - fail to start X server, after updates mostly, but even not necessary. :(
Usually I try to google for solution - but it helps for around 15% of time.
Very often it solves only by running complete reinstall of GNOME (KDE)

Code: Select all

sudo dnf groupremove "GNOME"
sudo dnf groupinstall "GNOME".
But sometimes even "GNOME" reinstallation not solves, and I must reinstall OS. :(

Like this one see screenshots

I suppose this steps not right ways to solve the problem.
I ask you to help me how shortly I can solve the problem when startx - not launch X windows system.
May be I can reinstall only the one (or the few) package(s), or may be I can solve it by edit config files...

Please provide me some plan (the things) that I can do when startx fails.
And please help me to solve the current problem (see snapshots).

Thank you!!!

P.S. sorry that I upload images on external storage, I tried to upload here, but very small size allowed.

Last time I looked, Red Hat said using startx was no longer supported and that it caused problems with gnome3 and that everyone should use gdm or a similar package. There is no useful info in either of those screenshots that I can see.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
