Cent OS 8.3 does not boot after fresh install

Post by goahead97 » 2021/04/03 05:55:29

Hello

Cent OS 8.3 does not boot after fresh install.
The computer just starts goes in a cycle showing up a black screen and turning itself back off. Then it starts up again and shows the black screen and turns it back off again.....and son and so forth.

Do you know how to fix this?
Thanks

Do you see the grub menu listing thee kernels to choose? If so, edit the current one by pressing 'e' then locate the linux16 or linuxefi line and delete the words 'rhgb' and 'quiet' then press ctrl-x to continue the boot. That will not fix it but will make the boot more verbose so you can see what the error is.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Thanks.
I fixed it for my UEFI enabled computer by choosing GPT and DD as settings for RUFUS while I created the bootable USB stick with the dvd iso image.
