Possible AHCI issue on kernel 5.8

Post by mgarskey » 2021/01/13 18:23:22

First post here so please be kind, and I could not find a similar issue here.

I have recently installed Centos 8 on an HP Proliant DL380 G10 server. On the install, it was running the 4.18 kernel and I was able to boot into the OS without any issues.

After the install, I updated it to 5.8.5-1.el8 kernel, and after that, the boot process seemed to get stuck on what to be the install of the AHCI drivers and just hangs. If I reboot back into the old kernel, the issue does not happen.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

All CentOS 8 kernels are 4.18.0. Anything else you need to ask the supplier for support.
CentOS 6 died in November 2020 - migrate to a new version!
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 is dead, do not use it.
