[SOLVED] Updates from AppStream seem to hang - ideas?

Post by lightman47 » 2020/10/20 17:42:57

So I may understand:

Whenever I perform an update on a CentOS 8 machine, it seems to hang on AppStream. I checked my ipset (oh yes, I've accidentally blocked an important repo with my broad ranges) but that doesn't seem the case now. During the process of checking, I went to mirrorlist.centos.org. From that list, the first three entries don't even 'resolve' so my assumption becomes that my updates are just working through the (3) error time-outs.

My question is therefore 'How and how often' is the mirrorlist updated - if ever? Is it automatic (you'd think)?

Now that I've dug into this a little, I am less nervous; I previously thought some updates were failing.

Thank you so much.

Remember - importing/building packages will likely "byte you in the butt" come update time, long after you'd forgotten you did that! Use repos whenever possible.

I did the clean part, but hadn't tried another update.

Apologies. Good to go now.
