[SOLVED] Compile dhcp from src.rpm

Post by HenryPootel » 2020/10/16 07:36:04

Hello.

I've got a src.rpm by following command to a server with new installation of CENTOS8:

Code: Select all

yumdownloader --source dhcp
and got a file dhcp-4.3.6-30.el8.src.rpm
Next.

Code: Select all

rpm -i dhcp-4.3.6-30.el8.src.rpm
After that I've tryed to compile by a command "rpmbuild -bb dhcp.spec" from the dir and got errors:

Code: Select all

Executing(%prep): /bin/sh -e /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.BxrCje

RPM build errors:

I need to add some code to dhcpd, but I can't compile the original src.rpm. Please help me to compile it.

Why would you compile at all?

I need to add some changes to lease time calculation of dhcpd. (dhcp.c file)

It has calculation? I thought that you simply set desired times in the config.
Does dnsmasq calculate with same method as dhcpd?

The main idea is to reset a lease time for lease the same ip address to described port (option 82} of a switch if a mac of connected device was changed.

Well, the src.rpm is not compiled. Is it not a problem?

Did you build it under mock?

Code: Select all

mock -r epel-8-x86_64 rebuild /root/rpmbuild/SRPMS/dhcp-4.3.6-30.el8.src.rpm
It got the same errors...

The first compiler error is that isc_boolean_t is not defined anywhere. (There are couple undefined macros too.)
ISC has apparently defined its own bool (macro) as old C did not have builtin boolean type. C99 did add some, but how old is ISC dhcp codebase?

Then, some update omitted ISC's definitions.
dhcp-4.3.6-34.el8 still had the issue https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1762796
and dhcp-4.3.6-40.el8.src.rpm should fix it.

Interesting:

Code: Select all

[CentOS 8]$ rpm -qi dhcp-client
...
Source RPM : dhcp-4.3.6-40.el8.src.rpm
but, yumdownloader finds dhcp-4.3.6-30.el8.src.rpm

The real issue is thus that yumdownloader does not fetch the latest source.
