libQt5Svg.so.5

Post by cfol17 » 2020/07/29 09:10:15

Dear all,
I installed the libQt5Svg.so.5 on my Cento8 machine which is installed with the "Workstation" version of centos8. But after installing it, i can't start a terminal in the graphical enviroment. I can login via ssh. But the Software I installed it for (seiscomp) still says can't open shared object (libQT5Svg.so.5) No such file or directory.
First I had this issue on a "Server with gui" installation and thought it might be there from, but it isn't.
Has somebody an idea where it comes from and 7 or how to solve it?

Thanks in advance, cheers, Claus

Is your software 32 or 64 bit? If it's 32 then do you have the i686 package installed?

No, you only have the i686 one installed not the x86_64 one.

Sorry, too slow with my brain, to fast with the fingers, ...
with "yum list available | grep qtsvg" I got the correct name to install! And after that, the half worked, .. So my software now starts, but my local Terminal still does not want to start, ...
Reinstall the terminal?

Up to now there was nothing, but I tried to start gnome-terminal from an ssh -X remote session, and there I got:
" # Error constructing proxy for org.gnome.Terminal:/org/gnome/Terminal/Factory0: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.gnome.Terminal: Timeout was reached"

Yes, it exists but with nearly no content, just see below, where you also find the output of "locale"
[seismo@baule ~]$ cat /etc/locale.conf
LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
[seismo@baule ~]$ locale
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE="C"
LC_NUMERIC="C"
LC_TIME="C"
LC_COLLATE="C"
LC_MONETARY="C"
LC_MESSAGES="C"
LC_PAPER="C"
LC_NAME="C"
LC_ADDRESS="C"
LC_TELEPHONE="C"
LC_MEASUREMENT="C"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="C"
LC_ALL=C
[seismo@baule ~]$
