CentOS 8 XFCE4 screen lock setting

Post by vcba79 » 2020/07/28 07:37:08

Hi, all

I am sorry that XFCE4 is from EPEL and it might not be proper to ask here. I just
changed my GUI from gnome to XFCE4. After a while, I got login prompt if I am
away. Is it possible to disable screen lock? I tried to disable screensaver but it
wont work. I use XFCE when running CentOS7, this problem never occur at
that time.

Thanks,

I also tried to disable the xfce4-screensaver, it was set "disabled" six ways from Sunday and it still ran. Finally I just used this:

Code: Select all

cat >no_lock.sh <<'EOD'
#!/usr/bin/bash
#try to prevent screen from locking
killall /usr/bin/xfce4-screensaver
killall /usr/bin/xfce4-power-manager
#no screensaver, blank monitor at 10 minutes, this does not have
#the same problem with mouse focus as if the screensaver kicks in.
xset s off dpms 600 600 600
EOD
The mouse focus issue is probably specific to the old mga driver I am using on this system. Anyway, set that little script to run somewhere after startxfce4 and your problem will be solved. This blanks the monitor after 10 minutes of inactivity, but there is no lock, shake the mouse and it comes back to its original state.
