has anybody tried the Raven LQXT desktop?

Post by jeepster » 2020/07/26 13:19:31

I have been running XCFE for a while, and then KDE Plasma. Just wondering if this LXQT acutally works in RHEL8 family.

I've just installed lxqt-desktop from raven repo on a fresh minimal install.
I set graphical target as default, but when I reboot, DE doesn't start.
If I try:

Code: Select all

[user@localhost ~]$ startlxqt
qt.qpa.xcb: could not connect to display
qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "xcb" in "/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/" even though it was found.
This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initialized. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, xcb.

Aborted (core dumped)
How could I solve?
Regards.

Ivan

Depending on if this is a NEW install or not, the best way is simple to scrub the install, and do a re-install with a GUI, from there start a konsole and then run yum group list and then yum groupinstall ' XXXX' if I remember correctly. Usually you have no problem starting from a minimal desktop, but I've had problem with hissey fits for reasons unknown. Usually once you have one DE installed, other DE usually have no problems. Go figure. Best advice is if this is a NEW install simply do a reinstall only choose one with a GUI rather than a minimal install.
