Does IPv6 work without the starttls?
I can connect using IPv6 to outlook and yahoo with no problems, and here I'm using starttls, only gmail on IPv6 give me this error.

I have set the phpmailer to use this settings:

Code: Select all

$mail = new PHPMailer;
$mail->isSMTP(); // Set mailer to use SMTP
$mail->Host = gethostbyname('smtp.gmail.com'); // Specify main and backup SMTP servers
$mail->SMTPAuth = true;                               // Enable SMTP authentication
$mail->Username = 'mail@gmail.com';                 // SMTP username
$mail->Password = 'mypass';                           // SMTP password
$mail->SMTPSecure = 'tls'; // Enable TLS encryption, `ssl` also accepted
$mail->Port = 587;                                    // TCP port to connect to
$mail->SMTPOptions = array(
    'ssl' => array(
        'verify_peer' => false,
        'verify_peer_name' => false,
        'allow_self_signed' => true
    )
);
Only if I use this settings I can send the mail using IPv4 and gmail smtp.

So not: $mail->SMTPSecure = PHPMailer::ENCRYPTION_STARTTLS;
Yes that works for me too (as said originally).
