Display resolution setting isn't retained after rebooting

Post by hakanekat » 2020/07/12 10:35:56

I installed CentOS 8.2 on a VMware virtual machine.
The display resolution was set to 800 x 600 after the installation.
I chose the resolution of 1440 x 900 in Settings -> Devices -> Display
and then apply and save.

The resolution was changed to the one I chose for the moment,
however, it went back to 800 x 600 after rebooting.
The resolution setting seemed not to be retained.

I've tried to change and save the setting both on Xwayland and Xorg.
Neither of them doesn't retain the resolution setting.

On all the Gnome desktops I've used other than CentOS 8 such as Fedora and Ubuntu,
resolution settings are retained and I can get the right resolution after rebooting.

How can I make CentOS retain the resolution settings.

My environment is the followings:
Host hardware: iMac 21.5 inch mid 2011 (intel Core i3 processor and 16GB DDR3 memory)
Host OS: Ubuntu 20.04
Virtualization by VMware Workstation 15 Pro (15.5.6)
Guest machine: 2 CPUs, 2GB memory, 20GB HDD

Best regards,
