just did a minimalist re-install. just network file sharing. my plan is to get away from the "all eggs in one basket" approach. i retained the /home as unformated, and will host the various services on other machines (to be bought, or older machines brought back to life), and just link to the data on this machine. at least this way i can get to my data, or will as soon as i configure it as such.

the "all eggs in one basket" was easier, but made for a very hard lesson.

ok... cross your fingers. i installed and enabled elrepo, it found the updated kmod-megaraid_sas, and will install it WITH the update this time.
being a minimal install, as long as it doesn't kill my /home drives, it can't really hurt much. it would take like 25 minutes to re-install, again, if need be.
