keepass for centos 8
keepass for centos 8
Hello,
This article says that keepass is available in epel8 but yum fails to find it.
https://centos.pkgs.org/8/epel-x86_64/k ... 4.rpm.html
I assume that keepass and keepassx are the same. I have testing and playground enabled.
Keepass is one of my must haves to come up on Centos 8.
I also tried to compile from source but run into problems with dependencies.

Re: keepass for centos 8
Hi jlehtone,
Thanks for replying. I had testing and playground enabled, but for some reason epel wasn't enabled.
It finds it now, but has an dependency of xdotool. I'll see if I can resolve the dependencies.
Thanks

Re: keepass for centos 8
Hi jlehtone,
I was able to resolve two dependencies with Centos 7 libraries. Unfortunately I wasn't able to import my old database to the new 2.0 program which can only be done on Windows. I might try to get the 1.0 program working instead or try to convert the database using Windows.

Re: keepass for centos 8
You shouldn't be using CentOS 7 packages on CentOS 8. Anything in EPEL ought to already have all its dependencies available either in EPEL or from the CentOS supplied repos. You should report this problem on bugzilla.redhat.com in the Fedora EPEL section.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: keepass for centos 8
Quick websearch says that xdotool can be found from third-party repos: https://centos.pkgs.org/8/getpagespeed- ... 4.rpm.html
Please report the EPEL bug.
KeePass migration FAQ does not tell that import is only for Windows users https://keepass.info/help/v2/setup.html#mig1x
Then again I see hints that Linux support changes 1.x -> 2.x https://keepass.info/download.html
On what platform(s) have you used the 1.x?

Unfortunately getpagespeed is a pay-for repo.

Re: keepass for centos 8
Hi jlehtone and TrevorH,
I came across the getpagespeed repo and found I had to pay to download. There didn't seem to be any Centos 8 compiled rpms that I didn't have to pay for, so I decided to try the Centos 7 rpms.
Since I need to be able to move the passpass database between Centos 6(my laptop won't update to Centos 7), Centos 7 and Centos 8. I'll try to get the keepassx 1.x version working on Centos 8. Keepassx 1.x version is on both Centos 6 and Centos 7.
