Increase font size - Minimal Install on T480s

Post by codeultron » 2020/06/05 12:51:08

Folks,

I just installed CentOS-8 minimal on my Thinkpad T480s and, the font is tiny.

I've looked at some forums threads here but, couldn't find a solution.

Please point me in the right direction.

The Arch wiki has a page on HiDPI screens that might be useful.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/HiDPI

You can try with xrandr (which is mentioned there.) First run xrandr to see what it calls your main display probably something like eDP1. Then you can run

xrandr --output eDP1 --scale .7x.7

If you're talking console with no X, you can change the font size by editing the font in /etc/vconsole.conf. I install the terminus font and terminus-console font and change that to read font=ter-v32n which gives me a readable console font.
New users should check the FAQ and Read Me First pages

Thanks for the response.

Yes, I'm talking about console without X. Currently trying to figure out how to get network working so I can install
the terminal font.

I'll update again once I've made some accomplishments. :?
