Bad sound quality in Centos

Post by gossip420 » 2020/06/05 10:36:14

Hi guys I switched to Centos from windows and it appears to me the sound quality is pretty bad. I often hear the sound gets distorted after a while. Is there a way to fix this ?

Thanks!

Hello,
Can you try followings:

vi /etc/pulse/default.pa

find the following:
load-module module-udev-detect

and change it like this:
load-module module-udev-detect tsched=0

restart the system and check the sound again.

Sound quality should not be any different to Windows, assuming the same sound hardware is being used, unless there's a specific bug related to your sound chip (unlikely).
The original post doesn't heve enough information about the hardware being used, e.g. headphones direct to sound card, speakers involved?
One obvious thing to check is that the volme is not set too high, e.g. if you have Gnome desktop, make sure the volume is set to 75%, if it's set to 100% it could easlity overload the following audio stage and cause distortion.
