Installing MATE from source

Post by aussie » 2020/05/25 07:34:17

Hello,

I found this very detailed guide:
https://tylersguides.com/guides/install ... -centos-8/

But before I go to the trouble of compiling from source, I thought I would ask if there is a repo somewhere with MATE.

Hello,

I followed this guide and I have MATE installed and running. But one problem I found was that I was unable to change the resolution of the monitor.
Has anyone else who have followed this guide run into the same problem?

I went with Fedora 32 instead...

The when is in 2024 with CentOS 7.

Fedora has bridges far too often to my liking.

Hello,

I contacted Tyler at tylerguides and he said he would look into the problem with not being able the change display resolution.

In the mean time there is a workaround. Follow the directions at this site:

I made a request to add MATE to epel 8 but it was closed wontfix. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1844834

I also looked at making a request to rpmfusion, but because MATE is supported by Fedora, they wouldn't be interested.
