^[ character on console

Post by srinivas_pithani » 2020/02/18 15:24:56

We have got Dell PE and I have recently installed CentOS8 , which went fine . At the console , I get this strange character ( prob VT100 related ) which is really blocking my access to console .
Right now I got the IP configured luckily so able to access for now , but when system crash or when I need to use console I would have tough time.
I am attaching the screenshot for reference below

As it appeared after C8 installation hence trying to find answer here, any inputs on how to get rid of this are appreciated.

Your ctrl key is stuck down. Press both the left and right ones to unstick it.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Thanks Trevor , somehow after set of key presses the issues disappeared but it normally appears after fresh installation and I would definitely follow this sequence next time . I believe we can close this thread.
btw how did you conclude that its ctrl key prob & to solve we need to press both controls to unstick ?

And for that bit, you don't know which of them is stuck down so pressing and releasing them both makes sure.
