Kickstart not working via FTP

Post by tsburke » 2020/02/11 22:05:02

Greetings!

I am having trouble kickstarting centos8 into my VM via FTP. It seems SELinux is requiring the PW when I use my browser to verify the location, and I'm getting the old "can't fetch ks file" error. Was there a modification to SElinux between centos versions 7 and 8?

I use these steps in centos7 and it works fine.

*** On Server Machine ***

Code: Select all

# yum -y install vsftpd
# systemctl start vsftpd
# systemctl enable vsftpd
# firewall-cmd --permanent --add-service=ftp
# firewall-cmd --reload
# setsebool -P ftpd_full_access 1
# lynx ftp://192.168.122.1/pub <-- goes right to specified directory without prompting for PW or error
on Centos8, I installed to the VM manually and am able to ftp between machines (so I know my virtual bridge is working) but it requires a PW still. Any help/advice or direction to proper resources is greatly appreciated.

cheers

SE won't prompt you for a password, it'll just fail.
At a guess, your vsftp configuration (and guessing that defaults changed between 7 & 8).
