SMTP (Postfix) seems to run, but refuses connections

Post by travis_farmer » 2020/02/11 20:14:10

i have opened the port in FirewallD, as well as configured my router to forward the port to my server. yet nothing is allowed to connect to it. when i try to telnet to the SMTP from another machine on the network (the old server this one is replacing), i get refused.

Code: Select all

telnet 10.142.174.130 25
telnet: connect to address 10.142.174.130: Connection refused
what else should i check? this install is somewhat fresh install. to my knowledge the network/firewall settings are relatively unmollested.
a little searching revealed that the process for Postfix is called "master", and PS -A showed the process running.

if my mannerisms seem odd, it has been suggested i have Asperger's (and i am odd ;) )

well, solved that. it was connected to only the localhost interface...

now i can receive email from other servers, but i can't send mail out from this server...

bit of a learning curve i think.

solved the outgoing mail issue. my client (RoundCubeMail) was sending auth info, when none was needed. removed that, and all is now good.

Thanks anyway, just for being there. ;)
