Can't clobber a hard disk for a clean install

Post by sreeve29 » 2020/01/28 17:50:43

Installing Centos 8 on a disk that already has esxi.
No need to save what's there - just need to clobber the disk and install.

Keeps telling me that I've only got 1.5 MB space - want to use the full 300GB.

Normally when it tells you there is no space, the next screen asks you if you want to delete what is there.
Perhaps you aren't going to the next screen?

Another option. Boot from a live CD (any version of Linux will do)
fdisk /dev/sda (make sure "sda" is the name of the disk you want to format, maybe sdb, or sdc )

press "g" for gpt.
press "w" for write to disk.

re-install from scratch.
