Suggestions for desktop remote access

Post by MagnusStockholm » 2019/12/26 20:25:25

I need to set up remote access to the graphical desktop of my Centos 8 machine from Windows 10 (preferably using the Windows built in remote connection client but I can consider other client programs as well). I want to be able to access it without having to be logged in to CentOS (so "screen sharing" style access is not what I am after).

I have tried following several guides but not got any of them working with Centos 8 (with TigerVNC I was not able to connect even though I tried enabling non SSL/TLS connection according to a guide, xrdp connected but I just got an empty desktop that closed immediately) and in neither of the cases where I able to understand log information to debug the problems.

All suggestions of solutions (with reliable guides that are easy to follow) are warmly appreciated!

My favorite app is x2go. Although I have never tried that particular combination (Window client to Linux server), I think it would work. The RHEL/CentOS rpms should be available from EPEL.
