qemu-guest-agent does not work on centos 8
Re: qemu-guest-agent does not work on centos 8
Do you actually use the agent for something or are you just noticing that it gives an error?
Does your guest xml include the required serial port definition as listed in https://wiki.libvirt.org/page/Qemu_guest_agent

The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: qemu-guest-agent does not work on centos 8
Sure, I need it, because use VM on KVM hypervisor. When I installed it on centos 7 I just made yum install qemu-guest-agent, and didn't change anything in configuration.TrevorH wrote: ↑2019/12/04 14:33:35Do you actually use the agent for something or are you just noticing that it gives an error?

Of course, I can make various changes and so on, but I'd like to understand is there support of this feature in centos 8 or not

Re: qemu-guest-agent does not work on centos 8
Read the link I posted. You need to define the serial port in the guest xml.

Re: qemu-guest-agent does not work on centos 8
Actually this is generally not true and I think it's bad that you've been misled like that.
On proxmox, for example, this works out of the box as long as you activate the qemu agent on the host's side and just install the package. No further changes need to be made.
Did you have to apply the changes in the aforementioned link for it to work?
