Post by kbutler52 » 2019/11/08 21:43:39

Hello,

I am trying to load CentOS 8- but I am getting the following message; Couldn't Mount file- the disc image is corrupted.
I have tried reloading the DVD and keep getting the same message. I am VERY new to this, what an I doing wrong?
Please help.

Release notes for CentOS are available at https://wiki.centos.org/Manuals/ReleaseNotes

Check those for the expected sha256sum of the iso image that you have downloaded and then use google to work out the sha256sum of that file on your computer. If they are the same then it is fine but if they are different then your download is corrupt and you should try again.

How big is your USB stick? How did you copy the iso image file to the USB stick? Please read http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey for a list of utilities that are known to be broken and should be avoided. Do not use any of those.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
