Package libidn2-2.0.5-1.el8.x86_64 does not include any header files and there is no "-devel" package. What gives??? Where is "idn2.h"???

dnf config-manager --enable PowerTools

Now try again.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Thank you. Seems an unwelcome complication.

I presume that the (Red Hat's) intention is to simplify. Production servers are a major market segment and they don't need *-devel.

RHEL 8 has CodeReady Builder repo:
https://developers.redhat.com/blog/2018 ... x-builder/

In https://access.redhat.com/documentation ... positories
the CodeReady Linux Builder repository is available with all RHEL subscriptions. It provides additional packages for use by developers. Packages included in the CodeReady Linux Builder repository are unsupported.
RHEL AppStream Life Cycle: https://access.redhat.com/node/4079021

In other words:
BaseOS: 10 years
AppStream: some years
CodeReady: unsupported

It does make sense that CentOS does not lump together what Red Hat has separated.
Hence: BaseOS, Appstream, PowerTools.
