LXC support

Post by tomkov » 2019/10/04 11:50:40

Hi,

I am trying to install LXC on CentOs 8 but without success. I have added EPEL repository to the server. Does anyone know if it is possible to install LXC on new Centos8?

Thank you

I suspect the real answer is that Redhat want you to move off LXC which they no longer support and onto something like podman/docker etc.
CentOS 6 will die in November 2020 - migrate sooner rather than later!
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 is dead, do not use it.

Definitely podman(/buildah), definitely not docker ;)

There is a Copr repo with packages for EL8 here: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/ganto/lxc3/

I have used it successfully in the past, though not with CentOS 8.

podman can't do system containers.
any real alternative to lxc?

Can you elaborate on what you mean by system containers?

Yes.
AFAIK systemd-nspawn currently supports only one network interface, adding more is not configurable and should be performed on every start,
i.e. it is not lxc replacement right now.
