CentOS

I am using centOS in Oracle VirtualBox and I update my kernel to 3.10.0-957.5.1.e17.x86_64 but now I can't login to the system as root I try the password several times but it did not work is this a bug or is there is a solution to this.

Is it happening only via ssh or on the VirtualBox console also ?
