Cannot ping Centos VM

Post by Leyewho » 2023/02/25 03:49:34

I created a VM to make a PandoraFMS server, the VM has internet access(It is in bridged mode) and I created the Pandora FMS server and it works fine, but when trying to ping the VM or the server IP from windows 11(Host) it looses all packets, am I missing some config I need to change?

Are server, VM and Windows boxes all in the same subnet?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Yes, 255.255.255.0, just double checked, I found a setting saying that says "allow promiscuous mode" i moved it to "All" and I can ping the VM, but still cannot ping the Pandora server from the windows machine

That would appear to be a subnet mask. Are the ip addresses all within the same range?

I don't know what Pandora is, but if you have a host and guest, and separate "server" that sounds like three "machines".
If the "server" is just a process in the guest, then the guest has two IP addresses. Why two?

So with a netmask of 255.255.255.0 and an ip address of 192.168.x.x you will be able to reach all of 192.168.x.1-192.168.x.255 but you will not be able to reach 192.168.y.1 without going via a router. If the 3rd triplet of your 3 ip addresses is the same then there should be no problem but if it differes then that may explain your problem.
