I am unable to install centOS 7, because my ethernet card is not is not recognized during installation. Strangely, anaconda recognizes my wireless card and it wants to configure it, but it is useless because I do not have a wireless connection, even though my desktop can support ethernet and/or wireless connection. I have to use my ethernet connection during installation. Is there any way I can install centOS-7 under these conditions (short of getting a wireless subscription)?
Thank you for your help.

An ethernet connection is not a requirement to perform an install. Everything you need is on the 'dvd1' image or the 'Everything' iso. ELRepo ship a kmod-e1000e that supports newer cards that are not supported by the distro version so once you have the system installed, download their package and sneakernet it to the machine and install it. Also make sure you install elrepo-release so that you get fuiture updates to it automatically.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Anaconda detects devices in the system (that it can) and configures them. I usually disable unnecessary devices in EFI. That way they do not show at all.fermiproxy wrote: ↑2021/10/19 02:42:02anaconda recognizes my wireless card ... my desktop can support ethernet and/or wireless connection.
