wlp3s0: unavailable for "Intel 3165"

Post by centguy » 2020/09/29 14:04:22

I find a relevant post to my wireless card problem:

nmcli

gives
wlp3s0: unavailable
"Intel 3165"
wifi (iwlwifi), 2A:80:37:27:CE:58, hw, mtu 1500
According the post mentioned in the first line, the module seems already in the kernel.
I am in the latest CentOS 7: Linux centos7-vostro 3.10.0-1127.19.1.el7.x86_64

lspci -nn | grep Wireless
03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation Wireless 3165 [8086:3165] (rev 79)

$ lsmod | grep iwlwifi
iwlwifi 282445 1 iwlmvm
cfg80211 710770 3 iwlwifi,mac80211,iwlmvm

What commands shall issue to make the wireless work?

Thanks.

i guess I have a different sort of problems since I copy the whole / directory
from another machine to a new machine and reboot after modifying /etc/fstab.
(i am too lazy to reinstall everything). I let ubuntu to generate a menu to boot the clone
system, seems very robust.

I know very little theory, but I think it was this wireless stuff that causes
my boot to hang. Then I used ethernet connection to make the login screen to appear.
And now, the boot does not have the hang problem anymore.

But that does not seem to solve the boot problem if I am not on wired network.

After running nmtui to delete all wireless entries, and then use the network manager
to detect wifi network again and key in passwd, and everything is working.
