Solved - PXE-Installation fails with "Starting Open-iSCSI"

Post by logg sar » 2020/09/24 13:32:00

Hi there

I have to setup a PXE-Server for installing different distributions.
I found this (linked by trevor) and followed the instruction.
Now I reach the GRUB-Dialog. After selecting CentOS-7 or CentoOS-8 both fails while trying to start Open-iSCSI
The downloaded iso (CentOS-7-x86_64-Everything-2003.iso CentOS-8.2.2004-x86_64-dvd1.iso) are mounted to images/centos-7/ and images/centos-8/. This is working.

Well - I know what iSCSI is but I dont use this.

This is my grub.cfg

Code: Select all

menuentry "CentOS 7" {
echo 'Loading kernel ...'
  linuxefi efi64/centos/vmlinuz ramdisk_size=100000 ip=dhcp noipv6 repo=http://192.168.2.1/images/centos-7
#  linuxefi efi64/centos/vmlinuz ip=dhcp noipv6 inst.stage2=nfs://192.168.2.1/srv/tftpboot/iso/centos-7
echo 'Loading ramdisk...'
  initrdefi efi64/centos/initrd.img
}

menuentry "CentOS 8" {
echo 'Loading kernel ...'
  linuxefi efi64/centos/vmlinuz ip=dhcp noipv6 inst.stage2=http://192.168.2.1/images/centos-8
#  linuxefi efi64/centos/vmlinuz ip=dhcp noipv6 inst.stage2=nfs://192.168.2.1/srv/tftpboot/iso/centos-8
echo 'Loading ramdisk...'
  initrdefi efi64/centos/initrd.img
}
Any hints why this doesnt work?

Ok, solved by myself.

The vmlinuz and initrd.img was wrong/different/broken.
However - its working after replacing with the correct version.
