Wifi Card Not Recognized

Post by tsburke » 2019/12/19 05:02:23

Hello,

I am running Centos 7 on my lap top on a hard install. The wifi adapter is not being recognized but it's being seen. I have looked at other posts similar to this but everyone seems to be using a VM and I can't find a solution on a hard install. I wonder if this network card does not have a driver on centos? It worked on ubuntu (also a hard install)

02:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter [168c:0042] (rev 31)
It should be supported:

Code: Select all

# grep -i 168c /lib/modules/3.10.0-1062.4.1.el7.x86_64/modules.* | grep -i 0042
/lib/modules/3.10.0-1062.4.1.el7.x86_64/modules.alias:alias pci:v0000168Cd00000042sv*sd*bc*sc*i* ath10k_pci
Check with lsmod to see if ath10k_pci is loaded and if not, modprobe it. If it is loaded then check dmesg to see if there are any clues there.

Thank you for the reply! I have been working at it without any success. ath10k_pci was loaded but dmesg said this about it:

Code: Select all

# dmesg | grep ath10k
[ 20.686523] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: irq 283 for MSI/MSI-X

[ 24.246443] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: unable to read from the device
[ 24.246447] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: could not execute otp for board id check: -110
[ 24.246450] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: failed to get board id from otp: -110
[ 24.246478] ath10k_pci 0000:02:00.0: could not probe fw (-110)
I tried the solution you provided for another user but that didn't work. I haven't seen these dmesg erros on any other posts. Any advice?

I think you may need a similar solution to the one you linked but your chip is a 9377 and that one was a 6174 so perhaps you need a different firmware file.
