help centos7 on dell laptop Inspiron 7620 (intel gen12)

Post by jonavant » 2022/07/26 15:07:25

Hi

Centos7.9 has been installed on Inspiron 7620. Some drivers seem not installed.
Could you help me let it work.

1, Wifi Intel AX211. I only found AX210 now, and not want to upgrade kernel version, So a usewifi adapter is used to connect now. If any idea, please tell me.

2, bluetooth, seems AX211 too. Now "No bluetooth found" in setting view.

3, audio card, Realtek High Definition. Dummy Out when type Volume keys.
lspci -nn | grep -i udio
00:1f.3 Multimedia audio controller [0401]: Intel Corporation Device [8086:51c8] (rev 01)
microphone not checked yet.

4, TouchPad, not work. no info when type:
cat /proc/bus/input/devices | grep ouch

5, when type command top, gnome-shell has %CPU from 50 to 150, is it normal?

Thank you.

The Intel AX wireless network chipsets are not supported on CentOS 7.

The issue with gnome-sheel cpu usage sounds like it's possibly what happens when you have a video card/driver that does not support 3D. Gnome uses some sort of software version of 3D drivers and they are very cpu intensive. Either install the correct video driver for your video card or switch to a different UI that does not require 3D support.

I'd also question why you would install CentOS 7 on anything now as it has less than 2 years life left.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Thank you. So no need to search wireless solution.

Because my team all based on centos 7, and a tool we are using only support it now.

There are 2 video cards, which one should I install 3D driver
