I was looking for a server with a lot of RAM - not too fussed about CPU performance. I see a Dell R810 with 4 x AMD Opteron 6164s with 256 GB RAM at a modest price. The thing is, I need to install CentOS 7.3 to 7.7. Redhat don't support 7.x

only to 6.x, but I wondered if anyone has managed to get 7.x to run on a Dell R810. Very often "supported" and "works" are different. Since I don't have the machine, there's nothing I can run to see what drivers it may or may not need.

Anyone installed CentOS 7.3 to 7.7 on Dell R810 with AMD CPUs?

Note: CentOS 7 is currently based on "7.9". Anything older is not a real option.
Dell lists R810 as "Intel-based". R805 and R815 are "AMD-based". Are you sure about the "R810"?

According to this eBay item at least, it runs Opterons.

maybe the seller is mistaken.

They are mistaken, look at the 4th picture along from the left and it clearly says R815. The H200 is not a great RAID card but it should be supported by CentOS 7 out of the box.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
