SSD WRITE DMA Failed

Post by alecd » 2020/09/01 14:23:53

Hi,

Recently, I have encountered a similar symptom as mentioned in this post during my performance bench-marking.

While running heavy IOs on AMD system with Intel P4510 SATA SSD using stress-ng test, I encountered a host bus error due to a failed ATA command WRITE FPDMA QUEUED. The system become unresponsive that requires hardware reboot. The server is using CentOS 7.6.6 with kernel 3.10.0-957.27.2.el7.x86_64. Please refer to the messages log posted below.

This issue is also evident to other system with the same configuration, which most likely not related to hardware. Could this be BIOS or SSD firmware issue?

Appreciate any suggestion to troubleshoot this issue.

Thanks,
Alec

Topic split away from an ancient (2013) hijacked thread in CentOS 6 Hardware. Please don't hijack threads.
The server is using CentOS 7.6.6 with kernel 3.10.0-957.27.2.el7.x86_64
Run yum update to get up to date on 7.8 with 3.10.0-1127.19.1.el7.x86_64. Old versions are not supported.
CentOS 6 will die in November 2020 - migrate sooner rather than later!

CentOS 5 is dead, do not use it.
