HP ProLiant DL380 G5 - killed by last couple of kernels / microcode (??)

Post by flightsafety » 2018/06/04 20:37:15

After the 3.10.0-862.2.3.el7 kernel update, the system WOULD NOT REBOOT.
Managed to physically access the system, and attach a PS/1 keyboard, so I could select an earlier kernel.

Rolled back to kernel 3.10.0-693.21.1.el7 was OK for a week or so.
Recently did microcode update, along with a few other patches that were offered via yum.

Now found it randomly crashed, boot failure to dracut. (same as earlier)

Rolled back now to "emergency" kernel 3.10.0.327 - seems to be running OK so far ( only been 2 hours...)

Anyone else having issues with this?
I have firmware P56 and the machine has 5000-series RAID, 18GB ram and dual quad XEONs - Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5450 @ 3.00GHz

Same configuration (except using P200 RAID Controller), no issues here. I've updated two machines so far.

Mine with P400 controller is fine and fully updated. (FYI)
