You forgot to mention what the problem is.

Sorry,

I am getting in dmesg shown warnings. F/w appears to be reporting a bug (see first line).

Messages appear to suggest that there is an efi firmware/centos interface problem during boot.

Additionally Sleep/Hibernate d cause system to crash following restart - I don't know if this is related. However in earlier f/w and centos 6.4 sleep used to work. Then again I don't have a laptop so its not a big issue.

Trying to establish if there is an issue for Centos/RH/Intel to correct in future patches or firmware update. Have highlighted this to Intel support as well. Awaiting their response.

So far I have no other problems that can be related to this issue but I am still configuring the system.

Regards

Most bioses are buggy. If linux only comes up with warnings, you can assume it has been worked around.

Suspend/resume problems are mostly caused by buggy bioses and/or drivers. Try updating the bios and/or removing fglrx if you want to troubleshoot this. Else, you can simply ignore it.

Another option is to install and boot in legacy (non uefi) mode. The proprietary ATI drivers probably don't like the uefi framebuffer device.

Thank you.

Depending on Intel response will ignore as suggested. Might try your last suggestion when I have time. Not urgent if I can ignore. Will respond back then.

Note the highlighted error...:

[ 1.368132] ioapic: probe of 0000:00:05.4 failed with error -22
[ 1.368169] ioapic: probe of 0000:80:05.4 failed with error -22

Straight after I have

[ 1.368189] pci_hotplug: PCI Hot Plug PCI Core version: 0.5
[ 1.368212] pciehp: PCI Express Hot Plug Controller Driver version: 0.4
[ 1.368342] intel_idle: MWAIT substates: 0x1120
[ 1.368345] intel_idle: v0.4 model 0x3E
[ 1.368347] intel_idle: lapic_timer_reliable_states 0xffffffff
[ 1.368613] input: Sleep Button as /devices/LNXSYSTM:00/device:00/PNP0C0E:00/input/input0
[ 1.368617] ACPI: Sleep Button [SLPB]
[ 1.368647] input: Power Button as /devices/LNXSYSTM:00/LNXPWRBN:00/input/input1
[ 1.368649] ACPI: Power Button [PWRF]
[ 1.368700] ACPI: Requesting acpi_cpufreq

Can this error be ignored like warning?
Is this error related to the Sleep/Hibernate issue mentioned?

If I can ignore I am done. Thank you.

[ 1.368132] ioapic: probe of 0000:00:05.4 failed with error -22
[ 1.368169] ioapic: probe of 0000:80:05.4 failed with error -22
A failed probe doesn't exclude a successful probe later on, does it? Try 'dmesg | grep -i ioapic' .

It's generally not helpful to go through this stuff unless you know how to interpret it. A lot of people start finding problems when actually there aren't any. :)

No indication of successfull probe afterwards

# dmesg | grep -i ioapic
[ 0.000000] ACPI: IOAPIC (id[0x00] address[0xfec00000] gsi_base[0])
[ 0.000000] IOAPIC[0]: apic_id 0, version 32, address 0xfec00000, GSI 0-23
[ 0.000000] ACPI: IOAPIC (id[0x01] address[0xfec3f000] gsi_base[24])
[ 0.000000] IOAPIC[1]: apic_id 1, version 32, address 0xfec3f000, GSI 24-47
[ 0.000000] ACPI: IOAPIC (id[0x02] address[0xfec7f000] gsi_base[48])
[ 0.000000] IOAPIC[2]: apic_id 2, version 32, address 0xfec7f000, GSI 48-71
[ 0.896982] ACPI: Using IOAPIC for interrupt routing
[ 1.368132] ioapic: probe of 0000:00:05.4 failed with error -22
[ 1.368169] ioapic: probe of 0000:80:05.4 failed with error -22

Given I am not an expert to interpret these I will leave it at that. That's why I refered matter to CENTOS. If you think there are no other issue I'll sign of here and not trouble you further.

RK

Thank you.
