How can I get debuginfo package for old version kernel?

Post by dylan_liu » 2023/05/05 01:42:02

Hi,

I have a CentOS 7.3.1611 with kernel version 3.10.0-514.el7.ppc64le, and I want to install a debuginfo kernel so as to analyze a vmcore dump file of it.

But there was no corresponding version package at CentOS Debuginfo Repository. It seems due to the kernel version is too old.

So is there any way to get it? Thanks

I really doubt if such a thing exists. For a start only about 10 people ever used CentOS on ppc64le. I checked on debuginfo.centos.org and the earliest one there is 3.10.0-862. Also, your version is *ancient* and riddled with security bugs and is not safe to run. And on top of that, it's quite likely that whatever bug you are trying to investigate has already been fixed in one of the 600+ kernels that have been built since that one!

Don't run 7.3, it's unsafe.
CentOS 8 died a premature death at the end of 2021 - migrate to Rocky/Alma/OEL/Springdale ASAP.

CentOS 5 and 6 are dead, do not use them.
