CentOS7 : Installing Mysql 5.7 - Temporary password not working

Post by fn_newbie » 2021/08/17 01:50:51

Hi Guys,

I am a newbie on CentOS 7 and I just installed a fresh copy of Mysql and also got the temporary password for the root@localhost but when I tried inputting the temp password it does not work. I'm pretty sure that I just missing out on something here. Below are the screenshots of the steps.

We do not ship mysql at all on CentOS 7. CentOS 7 has mariadb 5.5.68 and on that there is no root password set by default, it's unset and has to be changed.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
