CentOS 7 has been installed for a few year but I never
get serious with it. There are just a few surprises here and there and by the time
I learn a few tricks, I got tired and switched back to CentOS 6 partition.
I revisit CentOS 7 (even install CentOS 8) recently.
One serious issue that I cannot fix is to use
xdvi on CentOS.
I have this problem
but no one seems to be able to fix in CentOS 7. CentOS 8 is even worst that the whole eps file in not
shown in xdvi window.
Since I am relying on latex to use this OS, this deciency is very bad. I am forced to think if
I should go ditch latex and stick with pdflatex that will bypass the problem by skipping xdvi but to rely on pdf viewer.
But xdvi has some charm in it hence it is a shame that people me have to give up on either CentOS or xdvi.
I was able to fix xmgrace problem by compiling from source, install revtex4.2 from CTAN, but for xdvi, that huge package
is a beast.
