delete gcc 7.4 from my computer

Post by yaodav » 2020/07/29 18:51:41

I'm trying to downgrade my GCC from 7.4 to 7.3 but I'm unable to delete it.

I tried the following command with no luck. It removes 4.8.5 but not 7.4.
sudo yum remove GCC
I tried to make uninstall in the GCC dir. It said that
the uninstall target is not supported in this tree
I tried also the fowlloing Stack overflow answers:
this
and this one

The 4.8.5 is the one and only GCC in the base system.

How did you install "your 7.4"?

Then you have to hope that there is a `make uninstall` target. If not then you're probably in for a reinstall and might be in for one anyway even if the uninstall "works". Who knows what damage it did to your system.

We do not recommend using source installs on a packaged distribution.
