Apache stopped working

Post by compass » 2020/02/23 07:12:39

Today in the morning I found that httpd doesn't work on my local server. Nothing was touched yesterday. Please, help! This is the info about my case.

# rpm -q httpd
httpd-2.4.6-90.el7.centos.x86_64

# httpd -v
Server version: Apache/2.4.6 (CentOS)
Server built: Aug 8 2019 11:41:18

# apachectl restart
Job for httpd.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status httpd.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.

# systemctl status httpd.service

Have you looked in the logs (/etc/httpd/logs)?
Remember - importing/building packages will likely "byte you in the butt" come update time, long after you'd forgotten you did that! Use repos whenever possible.

Thank you, for your help!

It looks like self-signed SSL sertificate expired. I'm not sure I've done everything properly, but I've renewed it and added the following line:

NSSEnforceValidCerts off

to /etc/httpd/conf.d/nss.conf file. I will be pleased for any comments of above. Now it works, but I don't have to much expirience with self-signed SSL. Once again, this is server in my local network and where is no access to it from Internet. Although, the server itself of course has access to Internet.
