New findings that may shed some light!
Due to the pandemic I and my colleagues have had to extend our offices into our homes so that we can work from home. To this end I installed tigervnc-server and run my computer through a vnc-viewer on windows accessing my office computer through an ssh-tunnel created in a wsl-app. The interesting thing is that in the desktop Xvnc builds the autmatic Mate screen lock works. So there must be some difference in the way the desktop is built in Xvnc compared to the "normal" way. Question is what difference and how to find it. Ideas, anyone?
Cheers,
gostal

Related but perhaps not relevant.
I have a Mint/Mate machine that I use for work. The screensaver works inconsistently on this machine. Sometimes it works and the display is locked and turned off, sometimes the screensaver does nothing.
