Sent email from sendmail

Post by xo)mora » 2019/03/07 20:58:07

Hi, I will use sendmail in centos 7 only for send email from perl web application, so I installed it, the sendmail version install was:

# yum info sendmail
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, langpacks
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
* base: ftp.usf.edu
* epel: mirror.sjc02.svwh.net
* extras: mirror.team-cymru.com
* updates: mirrors.oit.uci.edu
* webtatic: uk.repo.webtatic.com
Installed Packages
Name : sendmail
Arch : x86_64
Version : 8.14.7
Release : 5.el7
Size : 1.7 M
Repo : installed
From repo : base
Summary : A widely used Mail Transport Agent (MTA)
URL : http://www.sendmail.org/
License : Sendmail
Description : The Sendmail program is a very widely used Mail Transport Agent (MTA).
: MTAs send mail from one machine to another. Sendmail is not a client
: program, which you use to read your email. Sendmail is a
: behind-the-scenes program which actually moves your email over
: networks or the Internet to where you want it to go.
:
: If you ever need to reconfigure Sendmail, you will also need to have
: the sendmail-cf package installed. If you need documentation on
: Sendmail, you can install the sendmail-doc package.

I verified the sendmail status:

# systemctl status sendmail
● sendmail.service - Sendmail Mail Transport Agent
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/sendmail.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled)
Active: inactive (dead)

Now I only need to use it, please will you give any guide for use it?

Tanks a lot.
Regards.

If you're new then you probably don't want sendmail. Replace it with postfix. It supplies a 'sendmail' executable so is a drop in replacement.
