Issues related to applications and software problems

I am using google drive on a regular basis. I just recently switched to Centos 7 and installed google drive. I mounted google drive and have been using it since. But it is VERY slow. Seems that each time I am opening a folder it is attempting to browse the data from the network. The way it works on a windows computer is that it is exactly like a local drive but it syncs once in a while or you can stop syncing if you want. So I was wondering if this problem is due to the attempt to sync or not. If yes, is there an option that I could sync manually and turn off automatic syncing so that accessing and editing the files won't take so long!
