Regarding kdenlive, I refer you to Nux's forum where I have already reported the problem. I will test it again as soon as I have installed 7.3 on my lappie (I plan to do it during the festive season). Or you can update to 7.3 and report your findings there...
Root is evil: Do not use root (sudo) to run any of the commands specified in my posts unless explicitly indicated. Please, provide the necessary amount of context to understand your problem/question.

Sorry to hear about the problems you have with Kdenlive.
My personal recommendation is to use the project provided AppImage which as far as I can tell doesn't have that problem.
http://download.kde.org/unstable/kdenlive/16.12/linux/
Just download, make executable and run it.
