[SOLVED] Latest update-'Software Install' menu not available
After updating to 7.2, the replacement System Tools/Software Install menu isn't available.
It opens a tab in the toolbar but is accompanied by a delayed symbol.... See attachment
After about 20 seconds it disappears again. (Line added later)
Any pointers appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Latest update - 'Software Install' menu not available
As an after thought, should it be opening the 'Administrator Password' dialog, in the
same way as the System Log option does ?

Use the new application installer (/usr/bin/gnome-software).

Re: Latest update - 'Software Install' menu not available
In answer to your earlier questions, it's the same in non-classic.
There is no such file in /usr/bin and I can't discover how to do this from Google so what do I actually have to do to get this menu item working please?
Thanks

Yes thanks. I've now got the Application Installer and got the Software tools I wanted.
Many thanks for the help.

Re: [SOLVED] Latest update-'Software Install' menu not avail
I did run "sudo yum install gnome-software" and it did install properly.
But my
Applications --> System Tools --> Settings
menu selection is still not working. It spins the propeller for 15 or so seconds and then gives up.
However, when I run that as root, it does work. It doesn't work if I run it as a regular user.
Perhaps that is related to the boot up error message I get with this patch? "ioremap command failed"

Use the Application Installer or the Software Update tool.

Re: [SOLVED] Latest update-'Software Install' menu not avail
I don't see the Software Update tool anymore under the "Applications --> System Tools --> Settings" sub-menu. That is a definite change from the previous OS version.giulix63 wrote:Use the Application Installer or the Software Update tool.
I have been relying on yum to get my applications patches, but I do appreciate running that Software Update tool as well, as I believe that was the only way I get a new OS patch.

Re: [SOLVED] Latest update-'Software Install' menu not avail
If you run #yum install gnome-software it will install Applications/System Tools/Application Installer
If you run that... under System/Other... you will find the old Software and Software Update tools
