Hi all,
Due to my antiqued graphics card only being supported by older versions of fglrx (which in turn only support older versions of Xorg), I've been having to make due with the Xorg from 6.3 on my 6.5 install - I'm wanting to have a play with CentOS 7 but I'm wondering if there are going to be any issues with trying to use such an old version of Xorg.
Cheers,
Aaron

Your best hope is that the newer opensource drivers now support your older card. You will not be able to run the older X on el7 but the newer radeon driver now supports 663 different PCI ids so there is hope. Post the output of lspci -nn | grep -i vga and I can check if your PCI vendor/device id pair appear in the list.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

I haven't tried EL7 on ATI hardware, but radeon (the free software ATI driver) in recent Fedora is rock solid.

I bit the bullet and did an install on my testing partition and so far everything seems to be perfect.TrevorH wrote:Your best hope is that the newer opensource drivers now support your older card.
Thanks to the RH/CentOS devs for all their hard work.
