How to install .NET 8 SDK on CentOS 7?

Post by dominicelliott » 2024/05/24 10:36:14

I have read through all the official instructions and cannot understand this. Can anyone help?
I tried the command but it didn't work:

Code: Select all

sudo yum install dotnet-sdk-8.0

The highest dotnet version avbailable on CentOS 7 is dotnet-sdk-7.0.x86_64

CentOS 7 dies in about 1 month so deploying anything new on it seems... shortsighted.

Both EL8 and EL9 have dotnet-sdk 8.0 available and have a considerably longer lifespan. There is no CentOS 8 or 9 but there are other RHEL rebuilds.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
