Migrating zimbra from Oracle linux 7 to CentOS 7

Post by deshawn » 2022/12/31 06:03:22

Hi all.

I am trying to migrate the Zimbra 8.8.15_GA_4308.FOSS server running on Oracle 7 (fully updated) to CentOS 7

Instruction from : Zimbra wiki

On CentOS 7 installed and deleted last version ( zcs-8.8.15_GA_3953.RHEL8_64.20200629025823.tgz )

After copying old zimbra files to CentOS 7 /opt directory i tried to run the command ./install.sh (step 7 in instruction)

But there was an error

Perl installed on my server is perl 5, version 26, subversion 3 (v5.26.3)
I think this may be due to different versions of perl.

anyone can help me?

What is the point in migrating from OEL 7 to CentOS 7? They are both RHEL 7 clones and both will go EOL in less than 18 months.

It also appears that you have downloaded the wrong install file since the one you say you are trying to use has "RHEL8" in its name. That might work on RHEL 8 or OEL 8 or Rocky/Alma 8 but is not intended for use on CentOS 7. There is no CentOS 8, there are only beta versions of CentOS past 7. If you want to migrate to a newer RHEL clone then use Alma/Rocky or OEL 8 (or 9).
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
